The Australian Specialist Cheesemakers? Association (ASCA) was established in 1994 to act as a catalyst in stimulating the growth and development of the specialist cheese industry in Australia. The Association today is represented by an enthusiastic group of members, derived from all sectors of the industry including manufacture, distribution, retail, consultants and other related industry. ASCA also offers a consumer level of membership which is suited to Australian cheese lovers, media and the hospitality industry.
The Association provides industry members with the following benefits:
- Provides information on matters affecting their activities including applicable legislation, marketing opportunities and technical issues, assistance etc
- Representation - a uniform voice for specialist cheesemakers, wholesalers, retailers and consumers
- Providing a forum in which members can exchange ideas of mutual interest
- Promoting awareness and appreciation of Australian specialist cheese both locally and internationally
- Encourages excellence in cheese making and food safety
